The precision measurement radar referred in this article is the key equipment used in flight path parameter testing for the shells, rockets, missiles, UAVs, helicopters and other arms in the shooting range of conventional weapons. Its comprehensive technical index has been extremely concerned. In addition, there are many other specifications such as antenna radiation pattern, transmitter power and frequency, bandwidth and sensitivity of receiver and photoelectric shaft consistency, which concerns the radar’s correct erection, acquisition and tracking, operating distance, measurement range and accuracy.However, it is difficult for making these key technical indicators to trace the calibration, because of the defects in the related test standard, the lack of static calibration method on comprehensive technical indexes and other factors. It is also difficult to implement for the calibration on dynamic comprehensive index, for the high cost (such as the fly calibration).Wherefore, this paper theoretically made a deep analysis of the measurement principle, signal frequency domain treatment and theoretical uncertainty, etc. This paper calibrated by indirect coupling way, dispense with the bad effect caused by disassembling in traditional tests, so as to improve the calibration method. This paper introduces the design of calibration method for radar comprehensive index in situ. In hardware, using the existing equipment facility resources, it designed and made some corollary equipment. In software, it made out the driver in lower computer and software of calibration in the upper computer based on LabVIEW. Ultimately, it designed and realized the radar calibration system in situ.It calibrated on velocity by converting it to frequency, making use of general standard signal source and development of the coupling channels. It calibrated on static ranging and angle measuring by tracing to high accuracy electronic total station. In dynamic calibration, it calibrated on dynamic range and angle value in common measurement range by making use of the existing railroad remote control moving target car, cooperated with the existing high accuracy of differential GPS measuring system. This paper evaluated the uncertainty of the calibration in situ one by one, will eventually calibrated the nonstandard special test equipment by tracing to the standard general instrument equipment, thus completing the radar’s periodic calibration.
