Virtual reality is a comprehensive technology utilized the computer graphics, computer modeling and simulation, sensing, display technology. It can imitate an interactive, illusory multi-dimension scene reflected the real world. In the virtual space, users not only have the real feeling of the simulated environment, but real-time reaction from visual, auditory and tactile variety of sensory information. The emergence of virtual reality technology has had a profound influence on the field of education. Not only has it changed traditional teaching models and educational methods, it has also provided an immense developing area for educational innovation and development of education technology. As a practical technology, virtual reality fundamentally changed the crude and passive interaction between man and computer. With a multidimensional interactive environment and effective study approach, learners can grasp new knowledge and master new skills in an unprecedented experience.This thesis demonstrates the dominance of virtual reality technologies applied to the field of education and describes how modern educational technology brings a great challenge to and has a far-reaching impact on traditional education. The paper also introduces the concepts, forms, basic features and key technologies of virtual reality. The author designed the training system depended on virtual reality integrated after analyzing the main problems of a railway company. Using software tools such as VS2008,3dsMax and VRP three-dimensional virtual reality platform, the writer designed and developed a railway locomotive crew training system based on a virtual reality environment. The training system is mainly derived from the real requirements, covering the whole procedure of study, examination and assessment entirely. Finally, this thesis introduces in detail the parts, structure, functional design and implementation of the system and points out its remaining problems and shortcomings.
