Compared with the existing Railway wireless System, GSM-R (Global System forMobile Communications Railway) has more meet with the necessary of thedevelopment of Communication signal integrated technology, which is enable toprovide more safe, comfortable and efficient services for the passengers. GSM-R fieldstrength supervisory control testing system, derived from the actual requirement ofBeijing Telecom Research Center, China CREC Railway Electrification Bureau Group,is used for monitoring the quality of GSM-R field strength coverage, and feeds backexperimental results, which are important for the relevant technical and managementpersonnel to evaluate and improve GSM-R network.The system designed and implemented in this paper, combining GSM-R fieldstrength test with GIS (Geographic Information System), receive and process the GPS(Global Positioning System, Global Positioning System) locate Information and thedata extracted from a series of processing. As the result, these procedures realizereal-time monitoring, historical playback and other functions of field strength test onthe electronic map. In the meanwhile, it designs the network structure of real-time dataacquisition and processing, thus achieving remote supervisory and control of fieldstrength test.In the general design of the system, through the research of the development andapplication of GSM-R at home and abroad, and with the actual situation of the railway,this paper analyzed the characteristics and main functions, divided the overall structurelevels of the system, and designed the functional modules of every level.For the module functions, design and implement modules, which include dataacquisition and processing module, electronic map monitor and display module,remote monitor functional module and follow-up process data module. Firstly, studiedthe two acquisition ways of field strength data, and proposed different treatments forthe two ways; based on the research of GPS data format, proposed the method of theneeded positioning data extraction, processed the geographical data for coordinatetransformation and map matching, thus provide sufficient data preparation for the nextgood job. Secondly, by using the geography control MapX, achieved basic operation,multi-view management, real-time monitoring test, historical playback and so on.Thirdly, using C/S network topology and Data Socket technology, controlled the real-time acquisition and transformation of testing data, and implemented remotemonitor of the test. Finally, through the functions in MFC (Microsoft FoundationClasses) and image output and other functions in MapX, exported data file and outputimages and table files.To sum up, GSM-R field strength supervisory control testing system in this paperhas been carried out the test in the actual environment, and its results show that thesystem achieves the railway department’s requirements including the real-time andreliability of data acquisition and results visualization. Nowadays the system has beenput into use.
