The Imperial Secretariat is the special management institution for the officialcollection of books in ancient China. In now words, it is roughly equivalent to the presentNational Library. In1272, the Imperial Secretariat of Yuan Dynasty is raised on the basisof the Song Dynasty. It takes charge of the books, documents and some calendars. Thebook <Records of the Imperial Secretariat> gives a deeply and utterly description aboutthe evolution of the Imperial Secretariat, which make people can get some detailedinformation about it.Chapter1is introduction which analyzes the definition of relative concepts, thepresent condition of research, and purpose of choosing this topic,significance of the thiswriting,the mainly content,and the innovations of the paper.Chapter2summarizes the setup of the documents institutions and the personalswhich are reflected in <Records of the Imperial Secretariat>. In the first point, itincludes four parts, which is the institution of the official historian, the astronomy andcalendar, the printing and the writing. The second point introduces the human resourcesof the documents and the payment in this organization.Chapter3points out the species and the main contents of the documents which arereflected in <Records of the Imperial Secretariat>. This chapter is divided into two parts.Firstly, it sums up the main contents of the book documents by reading the whole book;secondly, it gives a brief introduction about the archives documents.Chapter4analyses the collection of the documents, the characteristics of the storage,and the usage of documents which are reflected in <Records of the ImperialSecretariat>. Besides,the paper also makes some comments on some problems.Chapter5is the sum-up, and it gives a masterly generalization and summation aboutthis essay.
