In recent years, non-cultural-relics-system museums①have rapidly developed in the number and types, which brings vitality to the development of Chinese museum cause. However, some problems of these museums are gradually emerging, such as management system not regulated and the social effect not obvious, etc. Furthermore, the long-term marginalization of the government support and administration makes the issues more severe and difficult to solve. So there is an urgent need to cause the attention of the government. To this end, it is the first step to establish a registration system for non-cultural-relics-system museums in order to incorporate these museums into the government support and administration. In this paper, firstly we illustrated and summarized the overview and shortcomings of the current management of museum registration in China as well as the current situation, the trends of development and the problems of non-cultural-relics-system museums. Accordingly, we proposed the necessity and the importance of establishing and improving the registration system for non-cultural-relics-system museums. Then the museum registration system, including the standards and the implementation mechanism, is designed based on the relevant museum theories, advanced experiences learned from other countries’ museum accreditation systems, and the characteristics of Chinese non-cultural-relics-system museums, with the purpose of providing a reference for the government to constitute interrelated policies and promoting the sound and orderly development of non-cultural-relics-system museums.
