Equipment condition monitoring and fault diagnosis technologies are applied to learn and understand the knowledge of equipment in aspects of the state, normality or abnormity, early detection of fault and cause, and fault forecasts. Currently, most of our enterprises adopt the combinations of Breakdown Maintenance (ab.BM) and Preventive Maintenance (ab.PM). Moreover, BM often results in huge economic losses and PM are not solved the contradiction between "Lack of maintenance" and "Excessive maintenance". In this background, equipment condition monitoring and fault diagnosis technologies have been developed.The analysis of application techniques of condition monitoring and fault diagnosis systems in large fertilizer plants have been studied in this paper. Firstly, this paper introduced the theories and technologies associated with centrifugal compressors and steam turbines, and analyzed the objects monitored and diagnosed by the system. Secondly, the condition monitoring theories and technologies are introduced; meanwhile, the main aspects about Bently Systeml unit condition monitoring system, including structures constitute, hardware structure, constitutes of software are introduced. At last, the treatment cases of all previous fault of synthesis gas compressor are analyzed combined with the on-site commissioning and operational experiences.The condition monitoring and fault diagnosis systems introduced in this paper have run for ten years. The results of condition monitoring and fault diagnosis of units have provided effective supports to the operation stabilities of the equipments.
