Nowadays, CAN (Controller Area Network) bus with its real-time, reliability and otheradvantages has become commonplace, and become one of the most potential field-bus in thefield of industrial control. In order to solve the problem of data conflicts in the field ofautomotive electronics, CAN bus was developed by the German company Bosch. Theapplication of CAN bus is not only in automotive electronics, but also in the industrial control,marine, textile, aerospace and other fields.The miniature data acquisition system node based on CAN bus is designed to meet theautomotive electronic system requirements such as real-time, high reliability, the limitedinterior space and so on. The node can satisfy the performance requirements of the automotiveelectronic systems for advantages of real-time, reliability, scalability and the small size. Asthe control unit of the system Node, the C8051F series microcontroller is used to control theprocess of data collection. At the same time, the embedded CAN core is used to transfer thecollected data to the CAN bus. The baud rate of CAN bus can reach up to1Mbps. Themechanism of automatic error detection and correction is included in the control protocol. Thenumber of CAN bus node can be extended to110. The real-time, reliability and scalability ofthe CAN bus node are protected by the above-mentioned three characteristics. The real-timeand reliability of the data acquisition system have been further improved by using CAN busfor the data transmission.Finally, the function of data acquisition node is verified by receiving the data anddisplaying it use the host computer. The experiments show that data collection andtransmission of the system node are real-time, stable and accurate. So the desired design goalsare achieved.
