A Discussion On The Rudiment Of Journalistic Professionalism In Modern China

Journalistic Professionalism is introduced to China as a western press thought. In this sense, it is a thorough exotic. But when we observe Chinese modern journalism history in view of Journalistic Professionalism, we could see the existence of Journalistic Professionalism in the modern Chinese press. As early as before the establishment of the Republic of China, there are some folk journalists and newspaper with the folk position. They stick to fair attitude and independent position, dare to expose the strong power of the reactionary rule, reflect the wishes of the people and service to the public. As the herald of Journalistic Professionalism, they prepared for the rudiment of Journalistic Professionalism in China.In the early years of the Republic of China was founded, as the appearance of earliest occupation reporters and journalists, the regression of "news-centered" in newspaper, the establishment of news organizations, the starting of news research and education and the containment of Journalistic Professionalism in the news thought of earliest occupation reporters and journalists, Journalistic Professionalism is beginning. In this paper, we observe the beginning of Journalistic Professionalism in modern China from the above several aspects, and try to find out the reason to this beginning. After the analysis we find out there are many reasons to this beginning, they are the introduction of foreign news thought, China’s internal political factors, economic factors and cultural tradition, and so on. We also give analysis on the characteristic of the Journalistic Professionalism in its beginning from two aspects——one is time, another is space. Compared with the1920s’, Journalistic Professionalism in this time is not yet prevalent and its foundation is not solid either; Compared with the West’s, there is obvious resistance in the Journalistic Professionalism of China, the mode of production of Journalistic Professionalism in China is the style of "combine with indigenous and foreign methods". At last, we take a briefly exploration of the trend of Journalistic Professionalism after its beginning as the ending of this paper.
