Technology Of Defect Detection And Leather Contour Extraction Based On Digital Photography And Image Processing

As an important industry of garment field, leather industry develops fast. It notonly be used for leather garment, hat, bag, furniture but also be used for interior trimmingof auto and yacht. With leather production widely be used in many fields, leather industryhas higher and higher demands for raising automation level. America, France, Japan andCanada are researching and popularizing leather automatic cutting system.Leather cutting system includes leather contour extraction, defect detection,CAD nesting, CAM cutting. It belongs to garment single cutting system research. Itinvolves optics, machinery, digital image processing and computer control.To solve the problem in leather industry development, this thesis researchestechnology of defect detection and leather contour extraction based on digital photographyand image processing. Research work based on optical distortion and digital imageprocessing theory and takes experiment analysis as verification means. It includes threepoints:(1) Research the computer control technology of digital camera;(2) Researchoptical distortion theory and put forward a camera distortion correction technology;(3)Research image processing technology and compile software to realize defect detectionand leather contour extraction. This system takes Canon PowerShot S60as imageacquisition equipment. Besides, it hardware platform is a microcomputer and softwareplatform is Windows XP system. The compiled software, based on Microsoft Visual C++6.0environment, not only control camera by computer but also success in detecting defectand extracting contour of leather by algorithm combination of image processing.To numerous leather companies, especially the small and medium enterprises,this research result may provide a well solution for leather production. Besides, it also canbe used for others non-regular sheet’s extraction and processing, trademark and clothingcomponents’ cutting.
