At present, the domestic surface defects detection of medical gauze mainly usesthe artificial detection, artificial detection is not only low efficiency and large laborintensity but also low accuracy. Artificial inspection which affects the marketcompetitiveness leads to the decrease of the quality of the product. In view of thissituation, the paper researches the detecting algorithm of mage processing anddevelops the gauze surface defect detection system by using digital image processingtechnology which realizes the detection and identification of surface defect of medicalgauze. Compared with artificial method, can maximum limit to get artificial factorsinfluence on the test results, realize the objective evaluation. The automatic detectionwhich enhances the automation of gauze manufacturing process has importantpractical significance.Medical gauze defect detection is different from defect detection of other material,there are important defects such as missing end and broken pick in addition to the hole.The paper analyzes basic composition and working principle of the medical gauzesurface defects detection system and elaborates the key technology and the overalldesign of the system. Aiming at the basic technical requirements which should to beachieved, the topic choose an appropriate hardware and software system, the topicstudies the algorithm of surface defect detection and does a lot of tests to verify thefeasibility of the algorithm.In order to detect surface defect of the medical gauze, we need to collect imageinformation in the fist place and then put the information into the computer imageprocessing system. Gray level histogram and histogram equalization are used toenhance the image contrast, and a variety of filtering technologies are appliedeffectively to eliminate the influence of noise on the image. Through the imagepreprocessing, image quality is improved significantly, and the image preprocessinglay a good foundation for the follow-up surface defect detection of the medical gauze. Considering the actual working environment of the medical gauze in themanufacturing process, it is easy to know the gauze is in motion that leads the imageto blur, and the recovery processing is used to get rid of the vague gauze images. Thepaper applies the grayscale morphology algorithm of mathematical morphology toprocess the image which obtains ideal effect.This paper analyses some kinds of traditional image segmentation algorithms,such as threshold segmentation, edge detection and so on, and then binary images. Toensure the continuity of edge detection and split, a complete defect target image isextracted by a special method of image segmentation based on mathematicalmorphology, and the features of the surface defect such as holes, missing end, brokenpicks are divided.Morphological feature parameters of surface defect images are extracted and thenthe characteristic parameters of image are analyzed. Extracting the morphologicalfeatures of gauze surface defect images and classifying the morphological featuressuch as holes, missing end, broken picks, the image recognition of gauze surfacedefect is realized by means of statistical pattern recognition method in patternrecognition. Through some medical gauze image test by MATLAB, the feasibility andaccuracy are proved....
