Software process is a framework of the missions which is used for build highquality software. Software process is also a fundamental of a software project’sdeveloping, management and controlling. As for Software Process Model(SPM), thisis a insurance policy for all the missions that mentioned in software process, and canoffer help or guide for all members who attent to develop the software. Softwareprocess model is a generalized description of software process, a core of build adeveloping enviroment. Current assessment and selection methods for softwareprocess model are divided into three categories: experiment method, signal standardmethod and synthesizing method. Those assessment menthods can get some effect indifferent application, but still have lots of disadvantages.Aimed at the problems of high-cost, non-completeness and ambiguity existed inthe traditional assessment methods for software process model, this thesis build aframework of assessment based on GI four meta group for software process model,and proposes a qualitative and quantitative assessment method. On the basis ofassessment theory and domain experience of SPM, the unclear goals in the projectstart-up phase are qualitatively described in the form of problem set and expertproblem domain is constructed as the assessment criteria on the implementationcapability of SPM in the proposed method. With the integration of qualitative analysisand quantitative analysis by using a multi-index synthetic assessment algorithm ofAHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process), the weight vector of goals and the reciprocalcomparative matrix of problem domain are calculated and then the assessment resultin dimensionless index is obtained. In order to reduce the cost of assessment,questionnaires instead of project tracking and audit are adopted to extract projectgoals in the method. Meanwhile, SPM is comprehensively assessed from four aspectsincluding personnel, method, product and process, and the assessment result canintuitively reflect the capability of different SPM in a numerical form.Finally, an example is shown of how to assess four classical SPMs in the initialstage of a practical project, and compare the assessment result with the actual result toprove the validity the assessment method.
