A High-speed Real-time Image Segmentation System Based On Fpga Research And Application

The research shows that the main channel of transferring information is the voice and image in human relationship. According to statistics, auditory accounted for20%, vision accounted for60%and other (taste, touch, smell) accounted for20%in accepting information. So the image is the important media of information transfer. As the application of image processing is getting more and more widely, more and more research and develop resources are used in the image processing.The paper uses FPGA to design a kind of image segmentation processing system, image segmentation is not only the basic link of image processing and the first step in image processing, but also is the important method to reduce the amount of data in the late of image analysis. It makes the image to be meaningful several connected area set physically, selects effective information and it is a problem solved difficultly.The quality of tasks followed image segmentation, such as feature extraction and target recognition, depends on the much higher quality of the image segmentation results. Effective and reasonable image segmentation can provide useful information to the image retrieval and object analysis based on the content, so that it makes higher image to be understanded possibly.Firstly this paper introduces present situation of the high-speed real-time image processing technology development at home and abroad. It which is unions this topic and based on FPGA designs a kind of high-speed real-time image segmentation system and replaces the frame of traditional PC or DSP. In addition the hardware, software platform and software development environment used to segregate the image are introduced by the paper. The paper interprets the segmentation system elaborately, and the typical application of segmentation system in peduncle separator. Finally, the paper recorded the entire process of the system hardware and software even tone and the performance test at field, it analyzes and optimizes the experimental results and puts forward the prospect.
