Compared with mechanical scanning radar, phased array radar works in an electronic scanning mode. It can provide these advantages consisting of the inertialess scanning, beam pointing flexible, strong anti-interference ability and high reliability, and thereby is completely suitable for the multi-objective high-speed movement scene and has been widely used in many areas of land, sea, air. This paper discusses the design and implementation of the signal processing for an individual phased array radar, and focus on the analysis of the two kinds of radar echo modeling, signal processing and digital beamforming.Firstly, the modeling of the return wave of linear frequency modulation continuous wave signal and the linear frequency modulation signal in pulse are given. Then using the two kinds of echo signal, we discuss the signal processing, including digital down conversion, pulse compression, blique,2dimensional FFT, moving target detection and digital beamforming. The paper focuses on the digital beamforming of the7element linear array. According to the future development of circular array,the paper also discusses the digital beamforming of the64element circular array.The results show that the phased array radar can obtain the accuracy estimation of the target distance, speed and orientation. These results verify the effectiveness of the signal processing.
