Optical fibers have become the mainstream media of today’s world communication. If widely adopted, the equipment developed in this research will effectively solve the security engineering problems for those projects which have a distance of over300meters between the monitoring points and the monitor center. It can fully utilize the advantages of optical fibers in terms of band width and cost, facilitate the constructors and shorten the construction period because the equipment is easy to install and does not require debugging. What is particularly important is that it can transmit signals through a distance between0to120kilometers and the signal is real-time, digital, with neither compression or cross modulation interference by frequency modulation, amplitude modulation or phase modulation Optical transceiver. It guarantees clear video images are clear and high quality project and will bring about revolutionary changes to security engineering projects. Therefore, this research has great practical significance.The article begins with a brief account of the current situation and the development trend of digital video optical terminator. It then proposes the design idea of a digital video optical terminator based on optical fiber transmission network. According to the functional requirements of the equipment, different designs are compared and verified before the final design is adopted. The article goes on to introduce the overall architecture of the hardware and gives a detailed description of the design procedures of every module. In the description which starts from the central control unit, optical transmission, serial parallel conversion, video sampling to the8B10B coding of every module, the selection of chips and the design of circuits are also included. According to the needs of the hardware, corresponding software applications are designed, respective designing procedures accounted and the entire program coded. The article elaborates on the programming of the transmission and receiving terminal and the coding and decoding program of8B10B. The hardware circuits are made based on the design theory and the debugging of software and hardware is successfully carried out. At the end of the chapter, the debugging processes are presented in detail and the final achievements are displayed.This article lays special emphasis on analyzing the designing thoughts and methods for the hardware of the system. Experiments show that the system can work stably and reliably. In the end, the article demonstrates the simulation results and the hardware development achievements and summarizes the entire developing procedure.
