Along with the development of computer, it is running faster and faster. However, the size of computer is becoming smaller, and nowadays, mobile equipment is becoming more intelligence. As a result, the dependence of people on computer becomes more and more large. People can be accessible to computer and get the information they want whatever and whenever they are. On the other hand, the user experience is becoming higher and higher.However, it is precisely because of the computer’s continuously developing and the appearance of various mobile devices, there are more and more computer platforms which are available at current market. From the traditional Microsoft Windows based system platform to Apple’s Mac OS platform and Linux platform. It is the same for mobile device, such as Google’s Android platform and apple’s IOS platform. As a result, it becomes more and more difficult for the developers. Developers need to have different applications for the same product according to different platforms using different coding methods, which to meet various platform users. So it is a great waste for the manpower and material resources.With the development of network bandwidth and Web2.0technology, video on demand industry is becoming a global industry in this area these years. Many of the IT companies focused on multimedia have entered to this industry, which establishing a large number of different types of video on demand system. With the rise of this trend, more and more internet users choose to watch videos over the internet. There are also many internet users who would choose to upload their own videos to internet and share with other users. As a result, video on demand system is increasing impacting on our modern life.So what this paper will be presented is to use a high complexity multi-media VOD system as the research platform and make full use of HTML5’s multimedia new tags and complete a one-stop programming method which do not depend on platform’s video playback technology and can be compatible in the current PC browsers on the market (such as IE, Firefox, Chrome, Safari) as well as the mobile platforms (PC, IOS, Android). This video VOD system will also using PhoneGap, a across platform development framework, to achieve a more novel video VOD system. Moreover, this kind of development approach can reduce the difference of native and web based application. It can also greatly improve the production’s efficiency.
