With the development of Internet technology, real-time video transmission on Internet plays a huge role in the field of application of distance education. The application of multimedia technology and network technology in education field is one of the hotspot nowadays. Streaming media has the character of playing and downloading at the same time. Using streaming media in such poor condition of network, it can also provide audio and video files to meet the clients. And it can also implement the audio/video-on-demand, online teaching and distance learning in distant education. The technology of DirectShow can support a variety of media formats and simplify the playback of multimedia files, format conversion and capturing and some other work. DirectShow has a strong ability of streaming media processing. It plays that much of a role in distance learning education system. Digital Rights Management system uses user authentication, key distribution and transmission to ensure the security of core and confidential data. In the distance learning education system, DRM system is mainly used to protect the safety of the streaming resource.Distance learning education system is a kind of educational mode, using variety of streaming media files for teaching and information exchange between learners and professors. It breaks through the limitations of space and time, and it applies great convenience to those learners. The key issues include two points:instantaneity and reliability of transmission of media files. The size of the media files recorded by the video supplier is always very large. As the limitations of the current network bandwidth, it will generally take a long time to buffer to play and this may cause a delay in the process of transmission and reception. Accordingly, normal expression of the professors will be affected seriously in the distance learning system. And it is result in not operating online and instant teaching activities. On the other hand, it is very convenient for pirates to copy, modify and re-release the digital information, so that the information providers cannot get an appropriate reward.Research of a real-time video transmission system based on encryption is proposed in this paper. It can solve these problems like copyright protection for educating programs and reduction of network bandwidth requirement. The basic idea is that media data are segmented and encrypted once. The teaching video files are segmented and then each block of the files is encrypted. In the process of decryption, the video files are only needed to be decrypted once, and the next time when the user wants to uses them, the files can be played at once without decryption. A dongle is used to improve the effectiveness of user’s identity and protect the copyright. Put the needed video files into the buffer zone and do decryption operations in advance. This data buffering is used to solve the fluctuation of network bandwidth. To solve these problems, an effective solution is presented in this paper. Through the analysis and research on distance learning education system, it can provide a new direction for modern distance learning mode.
