With the development of computer network technology and multimedia technology, the network teaching platform is playing more and more applications to teaching activities, it provides a foundation for launching effective online teaching activities, and at the same time it is a guarantee for teachers and students who are separated by the spatial and temporal can work together to complete interaction teaching activities, and to achieve individual learning. The existing network protocols is IPv4which faces a number of difficult issues, such as the IP address shortage, lack of services quality control and poor in safety. The emergence of IPv6can solve these problems, because of the features of IPv6such as sufficient in address space, the strength of auto-configuration capability in address and services, strong in safe, supporting in mobile and so on, I believe that IPv6will fully replace IPv4and occupy domination position in the Internet protocol in the near future.At present the current research of IPv6is focused on the construction and operation of IPv6networks, but it is backward in the research and development areas of application software and protocol software which support IPv6, but they are required if really want to popularize IPv6network. Therefore, it is an important driving force for the popularization of IPv6that the development of network teaching platform based on IPv6.This paper first describes the research background and significance of the research projects, and analysis the current research situation of existing mainstream network teaching platform and the IPv6technology in the domestic and international, and detailed analysis the characteristics, address and datagram structure of the IPv6protocol. Then detailed analysis and design the network teaching platform based on IPv6, the contents of analysis includes the requirements of system, the functional requirements of users and the applications of the platform, then design the system architecture, the overall functional, detailed functional, database, Web application and file transfer and E-Mail and so on. Using B/S development model and integration server which is consist of Apache and Tomcat, and finally realize the main applications of the platform, including Web applications, file transfer and E-mail, etc. which are realized by JSP, SQL Server2000and IPv6socket programming technology and so on.
