Design And Implementation Of A Client E-mail Application Supporting IPV6 In Windows Environment

The requirement of IP address is more and more prodigious as a result of the prosperous development of Internet, The limited address space of Ipv4 will be used up, so the development of Ipv6 is urgency. Because of the tremendous success of Ipv4, the transition from Ipv4 to Ipv6 is a long course.e-Mail is one of the most popluar applications in Internet, so it is very necessary to develop a client e-Mail application for the interim.The paper presents the design and implementation of a client e-Mail application supporting Ipv6 in windows environment, firstly, correlative backgrounds mainly SMTP and POP3 protocols are recommended, and the course of send and receive mail is analysed. Secondly,the process of the application development is detailedly depicted from requirements whole design particular design coding aspects .the whole application is divided into 5 modules.the e-Mail protocol layer is the e-Mail protocols' detailed realization, and the transport layer encapsulates the lower net supporting Ipv4,Ipv6 and Ipv4/Ipv6 entironrnent. Lastly, we test the application and the results indicate our iMail software completely supporting pure Ipv4, pure Ipv6 and Ipv4/Ipv6 entironments.
