The electric power communication network operating modes play an important role in keeping power system working in a safe and stable way. There are many kinds of electric power communication network operating modes and they are of great dynamics. It’s a scientific and effective way to manage the information by building CIM models for the electric power communication network operating modes.Firstly, the paper analyzes the information of seven typical electric power communication network operating modes, including optical transmission network operation mode, dispatching telephone operation mode, PCM communication operation mode, integrated data network operation mode, dispatching service data network operation mode, communication monitoring operation mode and longitudinal current differential protection operation mode. Secondly, the information models of the seven typical operating modes are given, using the modeling methods of CIM model and according to the management requirements. Different kinds of information of the electric power communication network operating modes and their associations are represented in a unified way. The information management is better standardized, and it can be expanded easily, improving the management efficiency of communications network operation modes. In the end, the validity of the CIM models is verified by examples, and a design of managing power communication network operating modes based on the architecture of WBEM is given. The design can validate the feasibility of the models to some extent and provides reference value for the following work of system design.
