Softswitch provides call and connection control function for real time service ofnext generation network, which is core of next generation network. Softswitch canmerge voice, data and multimedia into one, support abundant service through variousaccess methods. It has been widely used worldwide.According to the current status of regional power grid company, this paperanalyzes the requirement of next generation network, especially the unified IP bearernetwork function requirement for China Southern Power Grid company, and presentsa serial of different equipment compatibility test record about voice and servicewhich based on the possible network structure. After analyzing test data andconsidering the current status of soft switch technology, this paper in troduces threesolutions which based on soft switch for regional power grid, prefectural extra highvolt sites and transmission line workstation. Comparing the IP feature, servicestability, service compatibility, user experience, operation and maintenancemanagement and technology efficiency of these solutions, this paper gives a finalsuggestion for the design of unified regional power grid platform.IP bearing network plays a critical role during the application of soft switchtechnology in power system. According to the feature of fiber network, transmissionnetwork and data network, this paper suggests a solution bas ed on softswicth for IPbearer network, which includes MSTP network and VPN data network at core layer,and GE at access layer. The performance of soft switch system in powercommunication can be guaranteed in all aspects such as bandwidth, service qualityand etc.EHV Power Transmission Company of China Southern Power Grid starts tobuild a unified communications platform based IP bearer network and softswitchtechnology, which can provide a reference for softswitch application in powercommunication.
