With the development of mobile communication industry, the demand for high-qualityvoice and high speed data business increases every day. Being lack of indoor coverage ability,the traditional macro base station has been more and more unable to meet the contemporarypeople’s demand of using mobile terminals indoors. With the pushing of this kind of demand,Femto base station products emerge as the times require. Being different from the traditionalmacro base station, Femto base station uses a fixed broadband (including ADSL, FTTx,CABLE, etc) to return to the Femto gateway, and it’s primary task is to provide an assured,stable real-time voice and video business under the condition of sharing limited fixedbandwidth with other network products. Nowadays, how to guarantee the QoS of Femtobusiness, especially the QoS of the real-time business is becoming a matter that is being paidmore and more attention by operators and family users.This paper briefly expounds the background of the Femto base station and thesignificance of researching its products firstly, then presents various kinds of strategies andmethods that basing on the IP return network for the guarantee of QoS, and analyzes andstudies the related IP network protocol technology chiefly. Then it introduces the RTP/RTCPand some associated RTP multiplexing technology which is being widely used in the real-timetransmission area. Finally, in the premise of the realization of the voice function of Femtobase station that bases on RTP, it adds part of QoS guarantee function, including the RTCPtechnology that help monitoring the status of the network in real time, the RTP multiplexingtechnology that help improving the utilization rate of bandwidth and the Jitter Buffertechnology that help fighting against time delay and jitter, then analyzes and demonstrates theeffects of the above program by testing in the real restricted network environment. Finally, thepaper put forward the key contents for further study.
