Nonvolatile FPGA is a new FPGA embedded with nonvolatile memory cell as itsbasic store unit. Nonvolatile FPGA is different from traditional FPGA based on SRAM,it is the biggest characteristic that the configuration data in nonvolatile FPGA is not lostafter power off, and nonvolatile FPGA gives user more nonvolatile characteristicfunctions. The basis of this, developing a50K system gates nonvolatile FPGA chip.Through reference to the FPGAs based on SRAM developed by Huawei Co. Ltdwhich have silicon verificated, This paper redesigns the chip architecture, furtheroptimizes basic module, integrates embedded FLASH IP on chip, and by researchingthe regularity of FPGA configuration, designs timing control circuit to match theembedded FLASH, finally, realizes nonvolatile FPGA design.By reading many documents and patents, and with experience of the previousproject, This paper makes a study of this subject, and completes the research and design:analyzing kinds of nonvolatile FPGA architecture; researching of nonvolatileprogrammable technology; designing architecture of a50K-system-gate nonvolatileFPGA chip; optimizing main modules of chip; verification of full chip by simulation;In the project, the author is mainly responsible for project management, andparticipation in the chip architecture design, the controller circuit design, as well as thesimulation of the chip verification.With0.18μm embedded FLASH IP CMOS process, the chip of this design hasbeen taped out by end stage of writing papers, and the test results of the chip basicallyachieve the expected design, performance parameter needs to be further improved.Through the research of this subject and later results of the test, the thought ofnonvolatile FPGA architecture has successfully proved, and it verified that small-scalenonvolatile FPGA of the developed architecture is feasible, which will promote themedium or small scale based on SRAM FPGA transplantation into a single nonvolatileFPGA provided effective design method, there is great commercial value.
