This paper introduces the principles of DS、PLL、DDS, compares the differences and similarities between DS、PLL、DDS which can produce frequency conversion synthesizer, and analyses the basic theory of producing frequency synthesizer with DDS technology.At present, the rate of digital phase discriminator is limited.So the output frequency of signal produced by digital technology can not meet the system’s requirement. To solve the problem, We can employ DDS to produce the reference signal,and use the PLL to produce local signal and clock frequency, finally realize the high-powered signal at the X band by spectrum transited, which can gain it by the combining of mixing technology.The project implements the design of the frequency conversion synthesizer of communication channel extension in radar which using the previous mentioned method. The principal technology performace of project is demonstrated in this paper,and the circuit design and test result are given. The test results indicate that the performance of output meet or exceed system requests. It works well in the radar system. In this paper many experiences in the testing process are summarized. The success of this project is of great importance for the development of the radar specialty in our research institute.
