In the Ming Dynasty,economy,culture and education as well as schooling and bookcollecting were all in full flourish around Jiangsu and Zhejiang.This not only represented theprosperous economy and culture,but also acted as a way in which the country laid stress oneducation.By analyzing the book collecting in schools operated by government,prefecture and thecounty around Jiangsu and Zhejiang in Ming Dynasty,this book tries to reflect how politicsthen influenced book collecting.This essay consists of four parts.In PartⅠ,the authorsummarizes the background of book collecting.The reason why book collecting aroundJiangsu and Zhejiang was prosperous is analyzed by sorting documents.In Part Ⅱ,the authorintroduces the varieties of books collected. The author sums up the varieties andsignificance of book collecting. In Part Ⅲ,the sources of the books is discussed.The authoranalyzes the approaches to the books in schools from place to place and comes to theconclusion that there are four sources of the books.In Part Ⅳ,the author discusses themanagement and utilization of the books collected. The author discusses the building andfunction of schools in which the books were collected,how these schools managed and usedthe books and the interaction of public policy,local education and society.
