A Study On Book Collections In Schools Operated By Government,Prefecture And The County In Gansu Province Of The Qing Dynasty

In the Qing Dynasty,the schools operated by government,prefecture and the county have the most wide coverage in all previous dynasty,with the largest number of students,on the education system,they have totally combined with the imperial examinations,become the important supply places of examinee.In order to satisfy the needs of learning,teaching and test,these book collections receive the official and private's supports.They have play a important role in unifying ideology and promoting the development of local education.As for the content of book collections,the book collections mainly about the royal code books,confucian classics,history and my official documents through entire province,compared with the Ming Dynasty,it is single.In terms of the scale,it has been through four stages,respectively called the recovery at the beginning of the Qing dynasty,the prosperity of Qianlong and Jiaqing, the decline after the Hui People Incident in Tongzhi Reign and the resurgent era in Tongzhi and Guangxu.It is not only for the local political and military environment,but also the national political,cultural and economic forces,the wood-block printing technique,and so on.With the stable situation of the politics and economy,frontier mainland integration trend is obvious in Gansu province,the government become to tighten its grip gradually,it is helpful for the unity of the social thought,but the the content of book collections are controlled.But undeniable,just as the function of training successor for government,the central government and local governments of all levels would pay more attention to the book collections,thus,they would provide more support to enrich it.Finally,we must admit it has a great significance on the development of local education and the stability of country.By studying the thesis,the author can have a more profound understanding among the state will,imperial examination,culture and education,to grasp further interaction between the state and local society.
