Emergency communication network is a communication system whichis used for natural disaster or man-made disaster, and it provides safe andreliable communication service for rescue operations. Because of thegeographical environment, which is used in emergency communicationnetwork, is unpredictable, and this network is probably interfered anddamaged by the bad external factors. These will lead it out of order whichaffect the normal communication. Therefore, it is necessary to adoptnetwork management measures to monitor and manage the resources ofsoftware and hardware in time. At present, the fault management systemused in emergency communication network is imperfect and the datacollection mode mainly depends on the management center and managedobjects which take up much network resource. At the same time, the remotemanagement center can not diagnose and manage the equipment when thenetwork communication occurs faults.According to the above problems, this paper take emergency communication network as research background, and the main researchincludes the embedded technology, data collection technology and faultdiagnosis technology. On these basis, network fault managed system isdeveloped, and the research achievements include the following respects:Firstyly, after analyzing the structure of emergency communicationnetwork, the hierarchical and distributed fault management architecturebased on embedded technology is established and embedded board whosecore is the IXP425network processor is designed to execute the networkfault management task. Running data collection procedure and faultdiagnose procedure in board, which is used to improve the reliability of thesystem and reduce the consumption of network resources.Secondly, in the aspect of data collection, data collection methodwhich combines active data collection and passive data collection isadopted in this paper. The active data collection is actively sending SNMPrequest packets and ICMP detection packets by management system toobtain network status information. And passive data collection is passivelycollecting network information by running network probe procedure andSNMP Trap receiving procedure on the board. These two methodscomplement each other increase the flexibility of the system, which provide reliable data sources for the fault management.Thirdly, in the aspect of fault diagnosis, expert system is used tocomplete network fault diagnosis in this paper, the knowledgerepresentation of this system use the combining of object-oriented andproduction. Object-oriented representation is adopted as the carrier of thefault knowledge, and fault diagnosis reasoning is realized by matchingmode of production rules, which is not only beneficial to the changingproperties of the diagnosis object, but also to the expansion of the diagnosisrules. Through the study and analyze of the fault features of emergencycommunication network, many fault rules are defined to realize recognitionand analysis of the fault.On these basis, according to the practical environment, the simulationplatform is built, and the system is tested in the simulation environment.The testing results show that the system gives full play to the advantage ofthe embedded technology which is running steadily with less resource, andthe collection data is comprehensive and reliable, which can efficientlymonitor the running status of network node and can timely diagnose thefault that occur in the network.
