Due to their particularity of working environment, military electronic storageequipments have very high demands to the reliability. The traditional magneticrecording equipments use magnetic disks and mechanical motors as storage mediumand access institutions, which restrict their storage speed and reliability. Solid statememorizers without rotating components which adopt semiconductor storage devicesfor the storage medium become mainstream solutions in the military data storage fieldtoday. By virtue of its nonvolatility, Flash-based solid state storage technology hasbecome one of the most popular solid state storage technologies.This paper investigates a large capacity video data storage system based on Flashmemory. The whole system consists of ten memory boards with a total capacity of4TB,and each one has the storage deepness of400GB, which is constituted by100Flashchips. It sends and receives data through high-speed parallel peripheral interface of DSP,to realize the communication with the management board. It uses FPGA to realize thecontrol of the100Flash chips. The hardware design makes FPGA become anasynchronous peripheral of DSP so as to realize the coordination between them. Thispaper details the system program about hardware implementation. The functionmodules realized by DSP and FPGA and their program flowcharts and simulationwaveforms are presented. Data transmission and control technology on the storagesystem is analyzed emphatically. This paper puts forward an invalid area managementsolution on account that Flash chips have random bad blocks, and expounds how toachieve a simple file system so that video data are stored in the form of files.
