Video monitoring technology is a synthesis technology composed of computer technology, network technology and multimedia technology. With the development of the wireless technology, especially the maturity of the3rd mobile communication technology, improvement of3G network coverage and rapid development of modern handsets, make the implentment of the wireless surveillance become possible through the3G networks. Wireless video monitoring is not only feathered with small size, low-cost, high stability, good timeliness, but also without wiring; at the same time, it makes use of powerful function of wireless networks transmission, enables users to carry on monitoring on time, also offers a transaction growth point for operating agencies.Under this background, this paper brings forward a design plan of wireless video monitoring system based on the3G standard, which takes full advantage of network bandwidth of the China Telecommunications, whose upstream rate is up to1.8Mbps and downstream rate is between2.4and3.1Mbps, bascially meet the transmisson need of the wireless video data.This system adapts the DM365development board and linux OS of the Montavista, and adapts H.264video compress standard which is most widely used. There are many function modules, such as dual-stream module, multi-thread communication, wireless communication module via EV-DO, invasion-detection module, RTP package module and so on, are implentmented by this system to send H.264data to users through3G networks. Finally this system achieves these two functions of auto-detect-alarm and user-initiative-wakeup and meets the system requirements.The major work is demonstrated as below.First of all, we introduce the study background and development direction of the video monitoring system, and propose the study significance of this paper, then introduce the relative foundmental knowlege of viedo surveillance.Secondly, according to relevant theory and methods, we conduct a demand analysis of the system, design the overall framework of the system, then introduce the hardware platform and development process of software, build the hardware and software platform for this system, on this ground, implentment the encoding of H.264and dual-streams. All these work pave the way for this paper.Thirdly,we introduce in detail the implementation of the key technology of modules of this system, then give the two process of auto-detect-alarm and user-initiative-wakeup, implentment the system function; then we show the hardware platform and running result of the system, and then analyse the running result. Finally, we summarize our work and put forward some suggestions on further development and improvement of our system.
