The rapidly development of mobile multimedia technology ushers in a new era of developing intelligent multimedia terminal product with the powerful function. Bus multimedia terminal, as one of the major forms of mobile multimedia, has already provided an important channel for people to get information when they go out by bus. Hence, in response to market demand, to develop a set of intelligent vehicular multimedia terminal product is of vital significance.Based on the platform of TI’s high performance DM365 video processor with the Linux operating system, using GPS, 3G, 4G wireless communication, WIFI network and other technologies, this thesis designs and implements a set of embedded vehicular multimedia terminal. This thesis conducts a systematic research from three aspects: hybrid multi-mode video playing, automatic station report and hybrid downloading in 3G and 4G directly connected mode and WIFI base station mode. The main work and achievements of this thesis are as follows:(1) First of all, this thesis expounds the background and significance of the research, analyzes the present situation of domestic and foreign research and generalizes the research content and structure of this thesis.(2) The single video playing mode has been unable to meet existing vehicular multimedia terminal’s demand of video playing variety. This thesis achieves the goal that vehicular multimedia terminal with its traditional video loop playback mode adds the new function of video timing playing and position-based playing as well as the function of encryption and calibration of native video, on the base of DaVinci video processing technology and C programming under the Linux operating system.(3) The general devices with automatic station report function which fulfil the basic function of bus station reporting and forecast only cannot keep pace with the development of the times in terms of ever-changing intelligent transportation industry. Based on GPS technology and TTS technology, this thesis designs and implements a set of automatic station report system which can achieve bus station report and forecast as well as makes bus draw in and out voice prompt in bus station and turn area. Meanwhile, this system also has the function of automatic synthesis of the speech file used in the voice prompt system.(4) Nowadays, internet downloading is needed when updating the local system video material and bus line data while the existing mobile multimedia terminal does not have the internet downloading function or can only realize few data download with the basic GPRS network. With the help of network transmission of 3G, 4G technology and WIFI technology, this thesis achieves the goal that mobile multimedia terminal can update a great amount of video material and bus line data under WIFI base station mode when bus is in the parking and update some urgent video material under 3G and 4G directly connected mode when the bus is moving.(5) There is a summarization of this thesis and a prospect of the future work.
