Research On The Development Trend Of Online Bookstore In The Digital Publishing Environment

As the product of the intimate contact between digital technology and publishingindustry, online bookstore brings new distribution channels for paper books, and developsrapidly with its advantages of low-cost and high-efficiency. However, with the lapse oftime, the entire publishing environment has changed because of the advent of digitalpublishing. Online bookstore, as a part of traditional publishing industry chain, hasfollowed the pace of times and made strategic transformation towards open digital-contentplatform. This creates a new development pattern for the online bookstore in the digitalpublishing environment.This paper first analyzes the rise and development of the online bookstore, mainlyusing case analysis of the two most successful domestic and international networkbookstores: Amazon anon environment of digital publishing and traditional publishing. Then, again by caseanalysis, the transformation of online bookstore in digital publishing environment has beendemonstrated. Finally, predictions on the future trend of the online bookstore have beenmade based on the summary of the preceding analysis. All in all, this paper concludes thatthe online bookstore as the original sales platform for paper books is developing towardsan open platform for digital content which will enable the readers to gain access to digitalinformation via any wireless terminal equipment anytime anywhere.This paper makes exploratory research on the development trends of online bookstorein the digital publishing environment on the basis of a lot of literature reading and analysisand summary of many typical cases. In fact, the industry practice has already exceededthe theoretical development, so this study is both necessary and beneficial to supplementtheoretical research of this area.
