Research And Implementation Of DLNA Middleware

As the development of information and network communication technology, a large number of consumer electronic products, mobile handheld devices and personal computers come into consumers’ families. But these devices are isolated from each other, and they can’t transfer and share media files with each other, resulting in the existence of "three information isolated islands".In order to realize the connectivity and interoperability of the "three information isolated islands" and share media files conveniently, this thesis implemented the DMC (Digital Media Controller), DMR (Digital Media Renderer) and DMP (Digital Media Player) middleware based on DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) standard version1.5. After that, this thesis implemented the DMC, DMR and DMP. After transplantation, DMC, DMR and DMP middleware can deploy on multiple devices within the family. Users do not need complex installation, configuration and management of these devices. These devices can work together with the existent UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) or DLNA media server and share the media within family.DLNA only provides the standard for sharing media within family, but it is not involved with the connectivity and interconnection, media sharing between families. Based on VPN technology, this thesis offered an effective solution to this problem and implemented the media sharing between families middleware. After this middleware is deployed on the home gateway, DMP within family may discover the UPnP or DLNA media server within peer family and browse media files on it.Finally, this thesis showed the functional test results of DMC, DMR, DMP and media sharing between families middleware. What’s more, this thesis gave the DLNA conformance test results of DMC, DMR and DMP middleware. DLNA conformance test results show that the DMC middleware can pass the conformance test and get the certification of DLNA version1.5. But there are still many problems in DMP and DMR middleware to solve.
