With the development of communication industries and wireless technology, onearea may be covered by more than one wireless networks, which make it possible forconstructing heterogeneous network system by different wireless accessing network.Resource management in heterogeneous network is attracting more and more attentions.In order to improve network resource utilization, how to realize access selection andload balance are one of the research emphasis. Therefore, flow assignment is adopted torealize load balance.A network delay based flow assignment (NDBFA) algorithm is proposed. NDBFAremedies the deficiency of link delay based flow assignment, when the difference ofaverage delay of different subnetwork is taken into consideration. Simulation resultsshow that NDBFA can allocate isocratic traffic to each subnetwork, even whenthroughput is saturated, NDBFA also can obtain better performance.A load based flow assignment (LBFA) algorithm is presented. On the basis ofnetwork load perception analysis, packet delay and packet queuing based loadperception is adopted to realize flow assignment. In order to decrease network overhead,LBFA can reduce the number of feedback and cross-layer design is utilized to furtherimprove the performance of LBFA. Simulation results show that LBFA reduces networkoverhead and improves the reliability of traffic transmission.
