Load balance,which means allocating load to several processing units,is a longstanding problem and becomes more important with the network becoming heterogeneous and the base stations bearing heavier traffic pressure.The load balance algorithm which was proposed previously can hardly adapt to the heterogeneous network with the coexistence of LTE,Wi-Fi,WiMAX and so on.Therefore it is essential to research new load balance algorithms.Aiming at the problem of accessing selection in heterogeneous network,the paper proposes a load balance mechanism in heterogeneous network(HetNet)based on utility function(LBUF).LBUF applies the Sigmoid utility function and multiplicative multi-criteria utility function to calculate the utility value of each network according to user need.Then comparing the variance of load rate with the threshold,it will choose a network for accessing which can satisfy the users and keep the load balance.The simulation result shows that,on the one hand,LBUF will directly choose the network whose utility value is largest to access when the load rate is low;on the other hand,when the network is overload,LBUF will choose the most reasonable one.Aiming at the problem of load balance and traffic offloading in HetNet with the coexistence of base stations(BSs)and Wi-Fi access points(APs),the paper proposes a bioinspired and user-experience preferred based load-balance algorithm for heterogeneous network(BIUE).BIUE firstly balances the load pressure of BSs by means of Kuramoto synchronization model,and then calculates the load rate value offloading from BSs to APs by means of utility function and convex optimization.The simulation result shows that BIUE can quickly balance and reduce the pressure of high-load base stations and has satisfactory performance in the situation of centralized overload or de centralized overload or gusty overload.At last,the paper proves the feasibility and the effectiveness of the two algorithms by experiments.
