Aiming to solve some problems and follow trends in fault detection and diagnosis, combined with new results obtained in relative discipline, the way of fault detection and diagnosis based on rough sets theory is presented in this dissertation, including Rough sets model. On this base, some extended models of rough sets are studied, including their uses in fault diagnosis. In this dissertation, some relative knowledge and concept of FDD first are introduced. In abundance of way, then choose RS theory as the method of fault diagnosis. Following the introduction of RS theory, we study deeply on the analysis method of information systems: reduct and rules, The main contents are:(1) first introduce discernment matrices and discernment function, then improve search method of reduct of information systems, such as pretreatment strategy of discernment matrices by using lower dimension and sparsity matrices, heuristic search algorithm of minimal reduct based on attribute frequency heuristic function.(2) for acquisition of rules, propose the definitions of object reduct and reduct of conditional equivalent class, corresponding to which generalize approximation of concept and get all reduct rules by constructing decision martice and decision function, furthermore, present an algorithm of serch minimai diagnosis model based on belief degree and support strength in uncertainty.(3) three modified-RS-model-based theory is presented: by generalizing single decision of object to general decision, generalize the analysis method of classic information system to inconsistent information system and get more concise reduct general decision rule set; variable precision rough sets theory and frequency rough sets theory.
