Stone tablet is one of the important historical and cultural heritages of China. It is not only an important carrier of China" ancient civilization, but also is a classical template to research and learn the art of calligraphy. Due to the large number of inscription and other damage, such as:natural erosion and human destruction, the traditional rubbing technique has not been meet the requirements of the protection of cultural relics and cultural transmission. It is in urgent need of new methods based on modern information technology to better record, process and display the text of stone tablets.The object of this thesis is inscription images collected from the Forest of Stone Tablets Museum. The article introduces all aspects of work and steps to extract the text from the inscription images, and the study focuses on image denoising, image segmentation and3D show of the intaglio inscription images.Owing to their own characteristic of stone inscriptions and the acquisition of objective factors of the environment, the original inscription images are filled with so much image noise that it seriously affects the observation and research for inscription images. Comprehensive consideration of the treatment effect and the ease of processing, in the stage of text extraction, this paper firstly obtains HD recording images of the same target in oblique illumination from the four direction in turn, secondly segments the four images by threshold segmentation to get four binary image, thirdly, fuses four binary image to get the initial text map, and then use mathematical morphology on the initial text map to remove image noise, and lastly obtain the text image. In the stage of text display, a scenic model of three-dimensional word of a museum is been built by VRML technology. In this model, the construction of the museum is been shown firstly, monument model, which is embedded the text extracted from the inscription images, is also been shown in a virtual exhibition hall and could been browsed by a variety of ways.Through of the study shown in this paper, the text of inscription images can be better extracted by digital image processing, and can be lively and flexible displayed in three dimensional. It is of valuable to the research of stone inscriptions and the integration of the inscriptions digital.
