With the development of wireless Mesh network technology in recent years, it has being widely used in both military and commercial fields, and playing important roles. Meanwhile, the security issues caused by its special architecture are attracting more and more attention. The research of Mesh network security protocols has become a hot topic. In the current studies of Mesh security protocols, much more attention has been paid to the security performance, while network performance is somehow ignored. Network simulation, as a simple, convenient efficient and reliable method in security protocol researches, is also perplexed by certain problems. Lack of universal simulation methods and platforms results a lot tedious and repeated work, and simulation platforms used now do not support the simulation of large-scale Mesh networks, which makes it impossible to establish the network performance comprehensively. In allusion to these problems, this article firstly puts forward a universal solution to the research of security protocol simulation platforms, and presents the architecture of a new kind of Large-scale Wireless Mesh Network Security Protocol Simulation Platform, depending on which users could either design and complete their own simulation platform or extend the existing platforms.Secondly, the interface of the simulation platform to security protocols is defined, the implementation details of which is encapsulated. And extension methods of security protocol is also discussed, according to which security protocols modules designed by researchers can be embedded in the platform. Thirdly, a Large-scale Wireless Mesh Network Security Protocol Simulation Platform is completed based on the OPNET software. Finally, a wireless Mesh network security protocol-Wireless Mesh Network Access, Quick Handoff and Roaming Protocol(WMN-AHRP),designed by our group, is modeled, and simulated using the platform. The simulation results prove the universality of the architecture of the platform and extension methods, as well as the availability, validity and good support of large-scale Mesh networks of the Large-scale Wireless Mesh Network Security Protocol Simulation Platform.
