As the rapid development of wireless communication technology and electronic mobile devices, wireless mesh network (WMN) which combines the advantages of wireless LAN and Ad Hoc networks is an ideal solution for wireless broadband Internet access. But as a result of the divergence and penetrating of wireless signal, security of wireless network becomes a key aspect which impact quality of service (QoS), so we need to find new security measures to keeping the healthy development of the wireless network.In this demand, I proposed the technology named Physical Zone Control (PZC), which aims to control user behavior by the physical region. If the user is outside the region, the application of using the wireless network service is refused, so that it will cut off the possibility of invasion of illegal users will be cut off fundamentally.PZC can also be used for schools, businesses, public services to achieve regional control. It can supply special services for some special areas. This will provide a rich extension of applications for the wireless network.The main contents of this research include:(1) Studying related technologiesMesh network architecture, radio signal propagation model, wireless network location, network simulation, and some other related technologies are studied, as well as some advantages and disadvantages of these technologies are analyzed. Then the physical zone control technology in wireless mesh network is proposed by making use of of the advantages of those related technologies.(2) Establishment of evaluation criteriaIn this paper, we proposed two kinds of evaluation criteria according to the characteristics of PZC. One evaluation is the controlling histogram; the other is the controlling evaluation values. They can reflect whether the controlling effect is good or bad effectively, and may be a good reference for following research.(3) Building node modelAccording to mesh network structure, we establish the model of each network node to achieve the requirement of basic functions in PZC by using OPNET simulation software, which can be simulated to realize of PZC technology by a joint function of each node.(4) The implementation of PZCThis study uses the wireless network self-localization algorithm to construct coordinate system, and we set the regional rule by the coordinate system. When some users apply for some services, PZC will determine the legitimacy of the user according to regional rules, and then provide the corresponding services.In the experiments, we simulate five different environments, i.e., the free space, large cities, medium-sized cities, suburbs, rural areas by the free space model, Okumura-Hata and COST-231 radio signal model. As the result of each environment in experiments is fine, we achieved the PZC technology basically.
