As a common kind of large-scale computer input device, large format has animportant market and research value, high-quality, high-speed and high-precision havebecome the goal of large format scanners’ scanning.By introducing the composition of large format scanners and taking advantage ofsome advanced technology, we propose a reliable design plan for high-speed largeformat scanners in this paper. In the new design plan, firstly, use a three-tier structured,and make the time-consuming data processing on the Linux layer, so that the PC with alow configuration is able to scan by a scanner. Secondly, high performance GL847scanner controller is used, which lays a foundation for the design of high-quality andhigh-speed scanners. Then, the design idea of parallel processing is introduced, whichenables the scanning and network transmission tasks of multiple CCD controllers towork in parallel, This improves the efficiency of scanning and transmission dramaticallyand covers the low-speed shortcomings of the commonly used serial scanning mode.Lastly, a set of calibration methods which is suitable for the scanner system is designedin accordance with calibration theories.Experiments verify that large format scanners adopting above design plan performideally on every technical indicator.
