The heating furnace in iron and steel enterprises is a huge energy-consuming equipment, whoes energy consumption accounts for about60%of the entire rolling process. The exhaust gas temperature after the air heat exchanger is about450-500degrees, and the waste heat has a big recovery value. This part of the flue gas waste heat recovery will reduce the energy consumption of heating furnace and the whole rolling process. This subject uses waste heat boiler to recover the flue gas heat after air heat exchanger. The waste heat boiler can produce not only hot water but also steam as the actual production requirements.In this paper, the waste heat boiler for heating furnace structure has been analyzed and the mathematical of the thermodynamic calculation, the water cycle calculation and three-dimensional models have been established. The program development diagrams have been established in this paper too. This paper developed a visual software for designing the waste heat boiler by Visual Basic6.0, Excel, Access and secondary development of Solid Edge. The software is divided into two parts:technical calculations and three dimensional drawing. Technical calculations can achieve waste heat boiler thermal design and check calculations of fire tube hot water heat boiler and heat design calculation, heat checking calculation, calculation of water natural circulation and forced circulation calculation for flue type waste heat boiler. Based on the ActiveX Automation technology, three-dimensional drawing is achieved through redeveloping Solide Edge and automatically reading the structure data generated by technical calculations. Functions of this software include: new-buliding, saving, opening and saving as database; Functions of calculations that especially thermal calculation, water cycle calculation and three-dimensional drawing outputting; The results which display visually for users and additional functions such as calculation of nature of water or steam and nature of smoke, and three-dimensional modular design and so on. The results reflect the visual image to the user with Excel tabel, and the results include heat and water cycle parameters calculated.Thermal and water circulations for a waste heat boiler were calculated by the software, and the results and the actual operating parameters were analyzed and compared to verify the accuracy and reliability of the software. Structural data calculated from the process waste heat boiler automatically generated three-dimensional graphics, verify the feasibility of three-dimensional design. Under different thermal parameters, structural parameters and operating parameters, the heat and the water cycle calculations can be achieved quickly using the software. The results of the corresponding data are analyzed and the thermal parameters, structural parameters and operating parameters on the system parameters are studied as a basis to achieve optimal design of waste heat boiler for heating furnace.
