Yang Tonggui is a famous scholars of the late Qing Dynasty in Northeast.WhenYang was a boy, he came to the northeast with his father who was an official for manyyears. When Yang grew up,he became the official at Changchun. Yang also has verygreat academic achievement.Yang wrote Shen Gu by himself and the territory ofmukden with Sun Zonghan.At the same time,Yang participated in the editing ofAnnals of jilin, edited the event,territory, history. Qin Shiquan was co-author,whenYang wrote Annals of jilin. Yang compiled Jilin and map said with Li Guilin and QinShiquan. These writings are the important documents on the history and geography of theNortheast.Yang’s opuses are provided information for research at historicalgeography.What Yang did offer these writings example for philology, provide for thedevelopment of philology, enrich documentary editing style.This paper will introduce the lifetime of Yang and his writings,then analyse hiscompiling method and the value of the document aspects.This article is divided into five main parts.In the first part,the paper want tointroduce the lifetime of Yang and his writings.
