Ruan Yuan Historical Documents Studies Research

As a famous scholar and official in Qing Dynasty, RUAN YUAN has a remarkable contribution in the Study of ancient Chinese Language and Character, the Study of Confucian classic, History, the Study of ancient Bronze and Stone tablet, the Study of Chronicle, etc. In the field of Historical Philology, he makes lots of achievements. In the Study of Catalog, he has many works such as Abstract of the Books Not Collected in the Si Ku Quan Shu and The Record of the Book in Wenxuanlou, in the Study of Collate, he organized scholars to make a systematic collation of Exegesis of the Thirteen Confucian Classics, in the Study of Exegetical, he organized lots of manpower resources and material resources to emend The Gloss of the Confucian Classics. RUAN YUAN has a important position in every field of Historical Philology, and his achievements was can not be ignored.RUAN YUAN developed very well as an official and made a great success, so subsequent scholars pay more attention to his performance as an official and ignored his performance in academic. After the foundation of the PRC, there are many scholars study RUAN YUAN, but few scholars study his philology achievement as a separate object. This paper is based on Predecessors' research, tries to start with the political and economic conditions and cultural backgrounds of RUAN YUAN's times, concerns whom he contacted with, studies his Philology thoughts further, and discusses the impact of it.
