The People's Daily Issues Of The Rural Construction

This dissertation conducts a research on the coverage of issues concerning the countryside in People’s Daily (2002-2011),Based on the theory of Agenda Setting. Framing and development communication, try to reveal its framework characteristics and reasons by using qualitative and quantitative research, and then provide some valuable suggestions for this Chinese national newspaper.The concrete study can be divided into two parts. The first one is about the outward show. including amount of news, space of news, source of news, type of news and context of news. The other is about inner meaning. Analyze the specific context by take the policy agenda into consideration, its not only about the variation of one item in different years, but also about the various items in the same year. In order to get more deeply understanding about the frame and its reason from lengthways and landscape orientations.It shows that, the frame about issues concerning the countryside in People’s Daily have pay much attention on the mechanism of news frame, with sensible tendency on news source and attitude. The distribution and variation of items are deeply influence from policy agenda. According to the analysis above, we find that there are three reasons which influence the media agenda setting:actual state of economic development, political factor and self-function mechanism.Finally, Considered the practical situation, we want to provide some constructive proposals for the future work.
