Mediation television programs have became more and morepopular in recent days,which is worthwhile to be analyzed.Thisarticle, taking " the new old-uncle" program via SMG newentertainment channel as an example, will illustrate themediation ritual on TV.In this paper, qualitative research methods, such as casestudy, reviewing literature, were adopted.This articleillustrates the difference between traditional mediationritual and mediation ritual on TV. This paper also shows thecharacterization of the real life, and how people in the ritualshare the common meaning.The mediation ritual’s contents and forms, evidently,areeffected by the TV media, which play a role in it. Judging fromthe ritual structure, although the ritual is required to bechanged in order to cater to medium of television, it is stilla ritual. Looking from the symptomatic of the mediation on TV,it is found that the host and mediator share the "sacrifice "position, and the layout of the environment is also in line withthe ritual needs.From the television mediation ritual’s realisticrepresentation, mediation of TV programs transmits the mainstream values and plays a powerful role of ideology.The innovation of this paper lies in: firstly,the authorelaborated the TV medium how to adjust the traditional ritual;secondly,the structure and characteristics of the mediationritual on TV have been analyzed in details;thirdly,the authorfocuses on the analysis of ritual communication and theintrinsic logic of it.
