In recent years, business-critical enterprise system data has become a keycomponent of a company’s core competence that is conducive to the survival andgrowth of the company. With increasing importance attached to disaster recovery, thenetwork storage industry today has received unprecedented attention.The company I am currently working for has been a leading provider of networkstorage products and solutions for many years. In light of the status quo of today’sdata storage industry, we come up with a data disaster recovery solution based on theB/S architecture that provides software support to cloud storage service providers.For corporate users of cloud storage services, what are of their major concerns isnot storage device type or vendor, but efficiency, productivity, and usability of thestorage services. With this in mind, we aim to address the following formid-to-small-sized enterprises in our storage solution:1) Easy-to-use and completely transparent storage services for the end user2) Cost-efficient storage space utilization through virtual disk provisions3) Client-side driver-level data synchronizationIn this article, we take a close look at three software products that constitute thestorage solution in terms of requirement analysis, design model, and systemarchitecture:1) USS storage server, which primarily provisions virtual disks2) DP client-side protection system, responsible for backing up and restoring client-side data3) CM management server, which monitors and protects client-side dataAs a proven storage solution in real business applications, the system has beenfully tested and operating stably in production environments and meets the businessneed for data disaster recovery in mid-to-small-sized enterprises.To put theories to practice, this article also provides a real business case todemonstrate the implementation and application of the storage solution in a corporateenvironment.
