Research Of ISCSI SAN-based Backup System

With the development of Internet and its application,the traditional storage system has lost the ability to satisfy enterprises' needs for high reliability, good expandability and security.Backup is the most popular method of data protection. Data backup is the last line of defense for high availability. No matter what disaster recovery project used, data backup is the basis. Recovery project is useless without backup. Data backup is the basic for establishing disaster recovery system, and is the basic for restore. With the increase of data capacity, users have new requirements at security, flexibility, compatibility and expansibility. So this essay concentrates on iSCSI SAN-based data backup system and does some analyses and discussions.The work of this dissertation falls in the following categories:1. Storage networking has become the prevalent solution. Currently there are two kinds of storage networking, NAS and SAN. It analyzes their physical characteristics and the underlying technologies, and then compares their specialties and application environment.2. Analyses the data backup technology, and we design a backup system under SAN situation. At last we use the NDMP protocol to improve it. 3. We design a backup system, and introduce the functional modules of it. Then introduce how to design the backup module and how to implement the functions.4. Set up a test environment; test the data backup system performance, then analysis of the test results.
