With the popularity of network applications, security and reliability issues of networksystem have become increasingly prominent and gradually become the focus of attention ofboth managers and users. Effective means of monitoring is a necessary precondition forachieving scientific management, not only conducive to the network resource allocation, butalso enable managers to keep abreast of all aspects of the operational status and irregularitiesof the network system in real time,thus is of great significance for the secure and reliable ofthe network system.Starting from the basic features of the current network environment, this paper madein-depth analysis of the inadequacies of the network monitoring means, cleared the objectiverequirements for the new generation of network monitoring platform, designed andimplemented the network node status monitoring system.This paper started from basic network monitoring technology such as ICMP and SNMP,focused on the key technologies of node status monitoring, including node identification,extraction of node running status, calculation of the network topology, node statuscomparison and analysis and terminal irregularities detection; in order to monitor the nodes’overall and real-time changes,two working models: the active polling and passive listeningmodel were proposed; on the principle of archieving functions and optimizing performance,all modules were designed in this paper.Based on the above works and around the high efficiency, cross-platform-ability,robustness and easy implementation of the system,the network node status monitoring systemis developed and tested in real network environment. The test results show that the systemfunctionality and performance are in line with the requirements.
