Virtual assembly simulation has been an important way of product design and analysis.By using virtual Assembly technology, the designers could directly do the assembly processdesign and the products design at the same time, so as to solve the questions found in thesimulation and analysis and optimize the product design. With the parallel developmentdesign, the company could save huge human, material cost and valuable time consumed in thetraditional physical prototype analysis. What’s more, the technologists could use virtualhuman model to simulation the assembly activities and make the ergonomic analysis. As the most important components in the assembly process, human plays a vital role, buthuman was often overlooked in the traditional design and analysis. So in this article, weadded and placed the human simulation and ergonomic analysis as an essential component inthe virtual simulation system. Using DELMIA as the virtual simulation platform, we did thevirtual assembly simulation and on this basis made the ergonomic analysis. The virtualassembly simulation includes the virtual assemble environment building, product assemblesequence and path planning, assembly simulation and interference analysis. What’s more, weadded virtual manikins who met Chinese adults measurements, and used the manikins tosimulate the workers’ assemble work that taking the products to complete the assembleprocess, then made the quantitative and qualitative ergonomic analysis, for example,we madethe physical intensity analysis, posture analysis, RULA analysis, NIOSH lifting equationanalysis, and Snook analysis and so on. Through these ergonomic analyses, we corrected theproduct design defects and optimized the process design, and developed the optimal operationstandard to guide the workers to perfect the assemble work in a more comfortable and secureenvironment. Finally according to the analysis needs, we developed an Assistant Human Measure-EditSystem. Using this system, we could modify the manikin’s measures to meet the Chineseadult body dimension. Therefore, we could get a more reliable simulation and ergonomicanalysis result.
