Faced with explosive growth of the network "cloud" data, a business requires the storage products to provide high capacity and high transfer rate. The disk array is a key infrastructure for building a storage system, an integral part of the SCSI target as the key to the array controller, which directly determines the maximum transmission rate in the disk array and server, the target device should be designed to closely follow the related hardware developments. FC protocol, iSCSI protocol as the target device first mainstream protocol, priority should be given to support it.This paper discusses the function of SCST, and further analyses the internal architecture of target module and gives an elaboration on the various work flows of the read/write access. We developed a muti-protocol target driver on Linux platform based on our RAID controller project and SCST, which supports both FC protocol and iSCSI protocal. Finally, we use some general benchmarks to evaluate the performance of this target module. Testing results show that the FC device has excellent performance, the highest data transfer rate of up to450MByte/s; iSCSI device stable, and can reach up to more than90%network utilization.
