The system of monitoring the icing of transmission lines is of great significance for improving the operation reliability and preventing the fault caused by the ice cover. In order to solve the problems of the traditional strain measurement, such as setup complexity, low-life non-linear compensation issues and defects of electromagnetic interference, this thesis proposed the fiber grating sensor.This paper studied the fiber grating strain sensor package applied to monitor the icing of transmission lines for the first time, designed a fiber grating strain sensors in the form of wires on the package. The package has a high linearity, coupling coefficient, as well as stable and reliable characteristics. The results show that the encapsulated form of strain sensor linearity of 0.9997, the coupling transfer coefficient is 0.42.This paper studied the fiber grating weighing sensor for transmission line icing measurement with a strong bias against the carrying capacity, high linearity, temperature compensation and high accuracy. The results showed that the linearity of the sensor was 0.9998 in the load range of 0-40kN, measurement accuracy 5.2‰. The measurement results did not change with temperature, which meets the transmission line icing condition on-line monitoring requirements.
