With the high development of a variety of wireless network communication technology in recent years, a new wireless networking technology—wireless mesh networks are becoming the focus of people’s attention. Wireless mesh network, also known as multi-hop wireless network, which is a wireless multi-hop mesh network topology, and belongs to broadband wireless access areas. Wireless Mesh networks can be combined with a variety of broadband wireless access technologies, such as3G mobile communications,802.11,802.16,802.20and so on,and forms wireless multi-hop links wireless mesh networks. In traditional wireless LAN (WLAN), each client are connected via a wireless link with the AP to access the network, users who want to communicate with each other, they must first visit a fixed access point (AP), which is called single-hop network. In wireless Mesh network, any wireless devices node can be both AP and router, each node in the network can send and receive signals, and communicate directly with one or more of the other nodes.The greatest benefit of this structure is:If the nearest AP has heavy traffic congestion, then the data can be automatically rerouted to a more smaller neighboring nodes to be transmited. And so on, according to network, the packet can be continued routing to the nearest next node for transmission, until it reaches the final destination. This access method can be called the multi-hop access. Based on this new network architecture of wireless mesh networks, there has been a traditional WLAN with low scalability、low robustness and so on, which can be solved. Wireless mesh network technology represents another a large across, which has a very broad application prospects.First, the article describes the history of wireless mesh network technology and its major application areas, the main applications of wireless Mesh networks located in the wireless broadband multimedia services, meanwhile, analyzed the inherent shortcomings in wireless mesh network. On that basis, addresses the protection technology of wireless mesh network QoS routing.Second, this paper studied QoS guarantee and OSI/RM compare model in wireless mesh network, and propose solutions to the wireless mesh network QoS routing problem, and gives a wireless mesh network model of mathematical functions performing QoS routing algorithms. According to recent domestic and international findings, arrives at this classification and novelty of resolving the issues.Then, based on the basic ant colony algorithm, this paper summarizes the advantages and disadvantages and improves the heuristic algorithm. According to characteristics of wireless mesh network architecture, gives based on improved ant colony algorithm for wireless Mesh network QoS routing algorithm, and combines network topology-based routing with routing algorithms, effectively reduces latency and low packet loss rate. In addition, by way of improved routing algorithm simulation study, comes to the conclusion that the optimal value and the average is significantly improved.Finally, the paper analyses in depth applications of wireless mesh network in the marine environment monitoring on the21st century, which is the century of the ocean, the traditional coastal environment monitoring network building technology, there are a lot of shortcomings, such as high cost, bulky and complex systems, not easy to quickly configure and so on. But wireless Mesh networks is low cost, easy to configure, easy to maintain, easy to expand and robust network topology, which is very conducive to the deployment of marine environmental monitoring network. Through analysis and comparison, this paper puts forward a coastal environmental monitoring system architecture based on the wireless mesh networks.
